Keith the Woodcutter
When you finish, read the whole story aloud.
Keith lived beside a Canadian forest. Outside his cabin, the national flag fluttered. He put on his checked shirt and prepared for work. After checking his tools, he entered the forest. A marked pine tree was ready to be cut down. He checked that nobody was standing nearby. Then he used his chainsaw to cut through the trunk. The tree crashed into the space he had cleared. Keith removed its branches and cut it into logs. Wood chips scattered across the ground. He arranged the logs in a neat pile. Once his trailer was loaded, he headed home. The rough forest road made the journey slow. At his cabin, he stacked the logs under cover. When dry, the wood would provide winter warmth.
