James the Tinker
When you finish, read the whole story aloud.
James travelled through Ireland in his caravan. His horse pulled it along quiet country roads. At a village, he stopped to offer repairs. He fed his horse before setting out his tools. A woman brought him a pot with a hole in it. Rather than buying a new one, she wanted it fixed. James cleaned the metal around the damaged area. He heated a small metal patch until it was ready. Then he secured it over the hole. After checking for leaks, he returned the pot. The woman paid him and thanked him for his care. Soon, other villagers arrived with broken items. By evening, James had finished the repairs. He packed his tools and left the village. They found a peaceful place to spend the night.
