Cosimo waters the tomatoes in his garden. They need water so their roots can grow. He plants more tomatoes beside the others. Each plant is given enough room to grow. Wooden sticks support them as they grow. Weeks later, many tomatoes have turned red. He chooses only those that are ripe. The green ones are left to ripen longer. Before chopping the tomatoes, he washes them. He cuts them into small pieces for a sauce. Cosimo cooks the tomatoes in a large pot. He stirs while the sauce cooks slowly. The lovely smell makes him feel hungry. Finally, he spoons the sauce onto his pasta. He is ready to enjoy what he has grown.
