Alan arrived early and unlocked the school. Wearing his brown coat, he began his checks. As he entered a classroom, he noticed a leak. Water from a broken pipe had soaked the floor. He turned off the supply and fetched his tools. After replacing the damaged part, he tested it. With the leak fixed, he mopped up the water. The pupils waited outside until it was safe. Then they entered and settled down to work. At lunchtime, Alan checked the playground. He collected litter scattered near the gate. When a girl lost her bag, he helped find it. At four, the last pupils left for home. Alan checked each room before locking up. Although tired, he was pleased to have helped.
